Tips   Edit a catalog item
You cannot edit items in supplier catalogs that save the status of Activated. To edit items in an active supplier catalog, you must first deactivate it. Also, if the NoUpdateAfterApprove parameter is set to true, you cannot edit items in catalogs of any status that have been sent for approval. For more information about this parameter, see the Ariba Buyer Catalog Guide.

Some fields on this screen can have multiple values. For example, you can enter multiple domain-value pairs for the classification code field. Other fields that allow multiple values are type attributes that contain collections. For more information about types attributes and collections, see the Ariba Catalog Format Reference.

Screen details

To display the Catalogs - Edit Items screen, click Edit in the Catalogs - View Content screen.

  1. Review the fields and their values.
  2. Edit any editable fields or click select to change, add, or clear values as necessary.
  3. For fields that allow for more than one value:
    • To enter another value on a field, click Add Value and click select again.
    • To delete a value on a field, click Delete Value for that field.

  4. Click Save to save your changes, or Cancel to return to the previous screen without saving your changes.

When you save your changes, the catalog item is automatically revalidated in the current version of the catalog. A new version of the catalog is not created when you edit items, but the edit is noted as an "update" in the catalog's history.

If your changes create additional errors, they are listed in the contents of the catalog. For example, if you give an item the same Supplier ID, Supplier Part ID, and Supplier Part Auxiliary ID as an item already in the catalog subscription, the new item is considered a duplicate and produces an error.
