Tips   Export a catalog file
Exporting a supplier catalog allows you to make changes to the catalog file manually. After making changes, reimport the supplier catalog into Ariba Buyer Administrator. You can also use export to save back-up files.

When you make manual changes, the next time the supplier sends a new version of the same catalog, the new version will not contain the changes you made to the previous version. To prevent having to make the same changes each time a new supplier catalog version is imported, ask the supplier to make the changes to the catalog.

Screen details

To display the Catalogs - Export screen, click the Export tool icon at the top of any screen inside a catalog.

  1. Select the file format to use to export the supplier catalog: cXML or CIF. Export multi-supplier CIF catalogs into CIF format only.
  2. Click Export to begin the export and click Save. Click Catalog Home to return to the Catalogs screen without exporting.

When the file is exported, the suffix 1 is appended to the filename automatically before the file is saved. For example, the file priceplus_officechairs.xml is renamed priceplus_officechairs.xml1. You can remove the suffix before saving the file.

Note: When a catalog file is first imported into Ariba Buyer Administrator, some information can be discarded as part of the import process. Therefore, it is possible that when the same file is exported, it will be slightly different from the original version.

For more information about exporting objects, see the Ariba Buyer Administrator Customization Guide.
