chain rule
A rule used to determine whether to add new approval requests to an approval flow. Chain rules are typically used to simulate recursion in approval rules, and add managers up a chain of command.
A Chain rule takes an approvable and a filtered approval request as input and determines whether or not to add a new approval request.
See the Ariba Buyer Approval Rules Guide for more information about Chain rules.
