Tips   Enable a type for testing

If going offline supplier catalogs are listed on this screen, you must fix the errors in the catalogs and revalidate them before activating the type definition file you just enabled. Click Catalogs in the Navigation Panel or click Home, then Catalog Manager, then Catalogs to fix catalog errors.

If you are not able to enable a deactivated type version, revalidate the type version and then try enabling it again.

If you enable a non-required supplemental attribute, all supplier catalogs are revalidated against the type, not just active catalogs.

If you enable a required supplemental attribute, you must edit all your contract subscriptions to use this new field and then manually resubmit them.

Screen details

To display the Types - Enable for Test screen, click Enable Type on the Type Definitions screen.

  1. To enable the type for testing and put the system in testing mode, click Enable.
  2. All activated catalogs are validated against enabled or activated type definitions to determine the impact of activating this type version:
    • The type impact report indicates which catalogs passed validation and will be reactivated if you activate this type version (Going Live Catalogs) and which catalogs failed validation and will be deactivated if you activate this type version (Going Offline Catalogs). Click any catalog link to display that specific catalog.
    • The status of this newly enabled type is Enabled. The type does not yet appear to users in the Ariba Buyer catalog.
    • The status of any previous versions of this particular type is Deactivated or Disabled.
  3. Fix any type errors in catalogs in the Going Offline Catalogs list before activating the new type. If the errors are too extensive, you can decide not to activate the type. If a one of the catalogs listed here is from a subscription that contains incremental load catalogs, all catalogs in the subscription that were activate after the one containing the error are listed.
  4. After the type has been enabled, do one of the following:
    • To activate this type definition version, click Step 3. Go Live. The existing type definition version is deactivated, the new version is activated, and the catalogs are reactivated or deactivated as indicated on the type impact report.
    • To disable this type definition version and continue using the activated version, click the Disable tool icon.
