When a request is escalated, the delinquent approver is removed from the approval flow and can no longer approve the document.

If an approver does not take action on a request within a specified time period, Ariba Buyer automatically escalates the request to the approver's supervisor (after first issuing a warning to the approver). Ariba Buyer emails this notification message to the delinquent approver and the requester indicating to whom the request has been escalated.
