Tips   View and manage partitioned commodity codes

An asterisk (*) indicates that data is from a different partition and is therefore read-only.

Partitioned commodity codes are ERP-specific codes used when Ariba Buyer is integrated with one or more ERP systems. In Ariba Buyer, users generally specify a nonpartitioned commodity code that is then mapped to a partitioned commodity code associated with an ERP system. Mappings between commodity codes and partitioned commodity codes are defined in a partitioned commodity code map. The CommodityCodeReport scheduled task generates a report that shows existing mappings. You can use the report to find and correct any incorrect or ambiguous mappings, for example, when one commodity code is mapped to multiple partitioned commodity codes in the same partition, so that Ariba Buyer can map from commodity codes to partitioned commodity codes.

For more information on partitioned commodity codes, see the Ariba Buyer Data Load Guide. For more information on the CommodityCodeReport scheduled task, see the Ariba Buyer Configuration Reference Guide.

Access to create and edit partitioned commodity codes depends on the permissions assigned to you and whether you are in view or edit mode. In the default configuration, the permissions required to view, create, edit, delete, and export partitioned commodity codes are defined in the workspace configuration files. Permissions can be customized. For more information, see the Ariba Buyer Administrator Customization Guide.

Screen details

To display the Partitioned Commodity Codes screen, click Partitioned Commodity Codes under Commodity Code Manager in the Navigation Panel.

Display partitioned commodity codes. Initially, no partitioned commodity codes are listed.

  • To display all partitioned commodity codes in the database, click List All.
  • To display a specific set of partitioned commodity codes, enter search criteria and then click Search or press the Enter key. For example, enter all or part of a partitioned commodity code ID, name, or description, or select a partition from the pull-down menu. To search all partitions, select No Choice. Search fields are case-insensitive.
  • To add or remove search filters, click Add/Remove Search Filters. Then select or deselect the check boxes for the search filters.
  • If available, click the Table Options icon, located in the row above the column headers, to display commands that control the display of data in the table. For example, you can hide or show columns of data; group data; or export data to Excel.

View partitioned commodity code details:

  • To view additional details for a partitioned commodity code, including any mappings of this partitioned commodity code to nonpartitioned commodity codes and to account types and accounts, click a partitioned commodity code ID or name.
  • To sort search results, click a column header. Click the header again to change the sort order, as indicated by the arrow.

Take other actions:

  • To create a new partitioned commodity code in the database, click Create New. The new partitioned commodity code will be created in the same partition as your login partition.
  • To edit a partitioned commodity code in the database, click its check box and then click Edit. You can only edit partitioned commodity codes in your login partition. When you edit a partitioned commodity code, you can also do the following:
    • Create or delete one or more mappings of the partitioned commodity code you are working with to nonpartitioned commodity codes and to account types and accounts.
  • To delete one or more partitioned commodity codes in the database, click their check boxes and then click Delete. You are asked to confirm your deletions.
  • To export partitioned commodity codes from the database to .csv files, click Export. Partitioned commodity codes are exported using predefined integration events which do not depend on your login partition or the search filters you specified.
