Tips   Download and upload configuration files

You can download only one file at a time. You cannot delete files using the Config Files task. You must manually delete files on your Ariba Spend Management application's file system.

Files are not validated when you upload them. Verify your changes before uploading to ensure there are no errors. When you upload an edited file, a backup copy if the original file is created, using the file extension .bak.n, where n indicates the number of times the file has been backed up. Never upload executable files due to the risk of introducing a virus.

Use a text editor to edit or create configuration files (word processors or spreadsheet applications can embed additional characters in the file).

To enable configuration files to be uploaded, the parameter System.UI.FileUploadDirectory must be set in the /config/Parameters.table file.

In the default configuration, the permissions required to download or upload configuration files, view directories in the list, and create new files are defined in the workspace configuration files. Permissions can be customized. For more information, see the Ariba Buyer Administrator Customization Guide.

Screen details

To display the Configuration Files screen, click Config Files under Server Manager in the Navigation Panel.

  1. Select a configuration file to download or upload from the list of files. If you are uploading a new file, select the directory to which you want to upload it. The Type <Dir> indicates a directory name. By default, the list includes all files in the config directory and its subdirectories.
    • To view other files in the list, click an arrow to display the previous or next page, or select a page from the pull-down menu. To view all files, click List All.
    • To search for a specific file, enter all or part of the filename or path and then click Search or press the Enter key. By default, all partition directories are searched. To narrow the focus of the search, select a partition directory from the pull-down menu. If you select No Choice, all partition directories are searched.
    • To sort search results by filename, file size, type, or date last modified, click a column header. Click the header again to change the sort order, as indicated by the arrow.
    • If available, click the Table Options icon, located in the row above the column headers, to display commands that control the display of data in the table. For example, you can hide or show columns of data; group data; or export data to Excel.
  2. Download or upload the configuration file.
    • To download the file to your computer, click Download to Client. The suffix 1 is appended to the filename automatically before the file is downloaded. For example, the file expenseGuidelines.csv is renamed expenseGuidelines.csv1. You can remove the suffix before saving the file.
    • To upload a file that you previously downloaded (for example, to edit), select the fully-qualified filename (the edited file must have the same name as the original file in the config directory). To upload a new file from your local computer, select a directory. Click Upload to Server and then Browse to select the file on your computer that you want to upload. The source and destination of the file are displayed. Click OK to upload the file or Cancel to return to the previous screen without uploading the file.
    • A log message is created in the database audit log when the file is downloaded or uploaded.
