Tips   Create a catalog kit
Suppliers are associated with and visible in certain partitions. Therefore, the catalog kit's supplier will limit the kit's partition visibility. For example, if KitA's supplier is Spill's Suds, then KitA will only be visible in the partitions associated with Spill's Suds. To make a kit visible in all partitions, choose Unspecified supplier. To limit the partitions the kit is visible in, use the Choose partition(s) for kit check box.

When you require approval of a catalog kit, a kit approval request is sent to the user with the Professional Buyer role (by default). When the kit is approved, it is immediately activated in the product catalog.

You must choose a commodity code for the catalog kit. The commodity code you choose adds the kit to a particular area of the catalog hierarchy. For example, if you choosing the commodity code Garden Tools puts the kit in the catalog hierarchy under the Tools and General Machinery > Hand Tools branch.

Screen details

To display the Catalog Kits - Create Kit screen, click Create New or Copy in the Catalog Kits screen.

This screen appears whether you choose to copy an existing catalog kit or create a new catalog kit from scratch.

  1. Enter or edit general catalog kit information:
    • Enter information for the kit as an item. For example, each kit must have a kit ID, description, and supplier part # that are independent of the ID, description, and supplier part # of its individual catalog items.
    • Choose a kit supplier:
      • If the kit will contain catalog items from more than one supplier, choose Unspecified supplier.
      • If you choose a specific supplier, the kit can contain catalog items from only that supplier.
    • If you do not want to send the kit for approval before it is activated, deselect the Kit Needs Approval check box. If you leave the check box selected, an approval flow link appears and the kit must be approved before it is activated in the Ariba Buyer product catalog.
    • To limit which partitions the kit appears in, select the Choose partition(s) check box. By default, this option is not selected and the kit is visible in all the partitions in which the kit's supplier is visible.
  2. Enter or edit specific catalog kit items:
    • To add a kit item line, click Add.
    • To copy an existing kit item line to the kit, select a check box and click Copy.
    • After the kit item lines appear on this screen, click select in the Catalog Item column and select a catalog item to add to the kit.
    • To specify that the catalog item cannot be deleted from the kit when a user purchases it, select the Required check box.
    • To delete any kit items or extra kit item lines, select one or more check boxes and click Delete.
  3. Save or Cancel the catalog kit:
    • Click Save to save and activate the kit in the Ariba Buyer product catalog immediately, or to save and send the kit for approval.
    • Click Cancel to return to the previous screen without saving or activating the kit.
