Tips   Edit commodity code maps

You can edit one commodity code map entry for a commodity code at a time.

Commodity code maps are bidirectional, although you must take into account the from and to directions in a map when searching for commodity code maps in Ariba Buyer Administrator.

You cannot create commodity code maps between commodity codes in the same domain.

You can create commodity code map entries between commodity codes that are not currently loaded. In this way you can create commodity code maps between domains without loading the actual commodity codes in those domains. However, the actual commodity codes in the system domain at the end of the mapping chain must be loaded for Ariba Buyer to work with them, for example, in requisitions and contracts.

When you click Save, your changes are saved to the database. Objects (such as users, roles, and commodity codes) with the Adapter Source set to ManuallyMaintained are maintained within your Ariba Spend Management application and not updated by integration events. Objects with the Adapter Source not set to ManuallyMaintained can be overwritten or deleted by integration events. For more information, see About the adapter source.

If you click Save and an out-of-date error is displayed, the object you are editing was deleted or edited by another user. For more information, see About out-of-date objects

Screen details

To display the Commodity Code Maps - Edit Commodity Code Map screen, select a map on the Commodity Code Maps screen and then click Edit.

Depending on the permissions assigned to you, and whether you are in view or edit mode, you may only view details, or you may both view and edit details.

  1. Modify the commodity code domains in the commodity code map entry. You cannot modify the adapter source.
    • To modify the Domain From or Domain To values, select domains from the pull-down menus.
  2. Modify commodity code values for the commodity code domains you specified.
    • If you know the commodity code IDs, enter them directly in the Value From and Value To text fields. Verify that the commodity code IDs are correct before saving to ensure there are no errors in the map entry.
    • If you do not know the commodity code IDs, use the pull-down menu for each field to select commodity code names. If you select commodity code names, the corresponding commodity code ID is automatically updated.
  3. Click Save to save your changes, or Cancel to return to the previous screen without saving your changes.
    • A log message is created in the database audit log when a commodity code map entry is edited.
