Tips   Search database log activity

To display the DB Log Activity link, the DatabaseLog log listener must be enabled in the config/Parameters.table file, and the Categories parameter must include at least one non- audit log category.

In the default configuration, the permissions required to view database log activity are defined in the workspace configuration files. Permissions can be customized. For more information, see the Ariba Buyer Administrator Customization Guide.

Screen details

To display the Database Log Activity screen, click DB Log Activity under Server Manager in the Navigation Panel.

  1. Search the database log for activity for non-audit log categories, to monitor the success or failure of common administrative tasks such as running integration events and scheduled tasks. By default, the list is empty.
    • To view all non-audit log messages in the database, click List All.
    • To sort search results, click a column header. Click the header again to change the sort order, as indicated by the arrow.
    • If available, click the Table Options icon, located in the row above the column headers, to display commands that control the display of data in the table. For example, you can hide or show columns of data; group data; or export data to Excel.
  2. Filter log messages by specifying a search filter and then clicking Search or pressing the Enter key. Search fields are case-insensitive and you can enter all or part of a name.
    • To search the text of log messages, enter a description keyword as a search filter. A description keyword can be any text in bold in the text of a log message.
    • To search for actions performed on a specific date or by a specific user, make a selection from the pull-down menus. To search for actions performed on a specific logical node, enter nodename, where nodename is the name of a logical node. To search for log messages in a specific log category or with a specific logging level (except logging level Debug), make a selection from the pull-down menus.
    • To add or remove search filters, click Add/Remove Search Filters, and then select check boxes for the search filters you want to add, or deselect the ones you want to remove. The search filters you select may also affect the search filters for the DB Audit Activity, My Audit Activity, and My Log Activity tasks.
